Freddie Freeman may be a hero for the Atlanta Braves. However, the 2022 season may see him don a different jersey. With the impending lockout seeing no progress, there remain some doubts over when free-agent signings will resume; but the growing consensus around Freeman seems to be that a return to Trust Park seems unlikely. Freeman could be poised for a move away. The Braves first baseman is a free agent this off-season and with no agreement in place.

Freddie Freeman has been an Atlanta Brave in the major leagues since he made his debut. He has been donning the jersey since 2010, it would be hard for several viewers to imagine Freeman turning out for any other franchise in the Majors, but with the free-agent now on the market, the opportunity is there. With several teams on the docket, could the Toronto Blue Jays make a play for the first baseman too?

Freddie Freeman – testing free agency?
Freddie Freeman is a free agent in the 2022 off-season, and he may well be testing the opportunity as a potential signing. ESPN’s Buster Olney has suggested that there seems to be a ‘growing belief’ around Freeman that he will not be re-signing with the Braves. And with the Toronto Blue Jays putting together one of the most complete rosters in recent Major League History, could he be headed north?

Several teams have expressed an interest in signing the 1st baseman to play for their franchise. With Freeman offering a specific skill set that is in short supply. Freeman is an experienced Major League player with tremendous defensive contribution and leadership. He also offers significant hitting capabilities; with his lefty stance and sheer ability to dispatch the ball out of the park.
Featuring on a line-up with AL MVP Runner-Up Vlad Guerrero Jr. is surely a unique opportunity for Freeman; and one that he won’t gloss over. The Blue Jays are also a very young side and could stand to advantage immensely from the experience that Freeman stands to bring.

Aged 32, this could well be Freeman’s last free agency where he is a sought-after signing, and he will be looking to make the most of his time financially as well, wherever he is headed.
