The MLB lockout doesn’t seem to have its end in sight yet. And it may finally be dawning on the players too. Ironically, while the two parties involved in the lockout are negotiating, the fans stand to lose the most. With a shortened spring training looming and maybe even a shortened season, fans are worried about the lengthening of the lockout.

But what doesn’t stand to be in short supply is some light-hearted humor. With the players all unable to use club facilities too, they seem to be taking to Twitter to talk about their urge for the lockout to be over.

Trevor Williams, a recent New York Met, will be eager to get going in 2022. With the Mets set in their rotation to comprise Scherzer and DeGrom, they have a formidable starting point. And Williams will be hoping to contribute where he can for the Mets. His last few outings at Citi Field have been encouraging, but Williams is yet to stake a permanent claim to the mound in Queens. And Williams may have the one quality that really sets apart relief pitchers. Consistency.

Trevor Williams takes to Twitter

Trevor Williams recently took to Twitter to spell his dissatisfaction with the ongoing lockout. Sarcastically, the pitcher proposed a change in his career direction for himself, suggesting that he was going to move into “graphic design work”. He even had a unique business proposition to set him apart from the rest of the market. Wrote Williams, ” Not much experience but I will get it to you in less than 24 hrs.”

The Pitcher had originally tweeted out some pictures of a chained-up baseball edited onto various things in the ballpark to signify the lockout.

The pitcher made it clear, however, that even if agreed to, this would only be a temporary arrangement. “Since I can’t go into my job right now I am available to do graphic design work, ” wrote Williams.

Last season, Williams was used mostly in relief by the Mets. His three starts only came in shortened appearances. However, he pitched in (excuse the pun) with an option to turn to in doubleheaders. More specifically, Williams was primarily used when they needed something between an opener and an actual starter.

No matter his stated role, Williams did the job that he was asked for. He recorded a 3.06 ERA in 32.1 innings for the Mets. Managing to survive the trading block and with the lockout now active, Williams will be feeling confident of his roster place with the Mets in 2022.

Reportedly, Williams’ role in the Mets is more that of a floater; Someone the Mets can call on in a variety of situations. On some occasions, it’s to start a game on short notice and give them three innings; on other days, Williams closes things out by going as long as he can in extra innings. His greatest strength is his availability.

And if last year was any indication as to how well he can handle the mound, Williams could well end up being the Met’s hero in 2022.
