The ongoing lockout in Major League Baseball has been frustrating especially for baseball fans. Because fans are desperate to go into the ballparks and cheer for their favorite team. And among all MLB teams, the New York Mets might be the most irritating side with the lockout. Because the Mets are going through a rebuilding phase. Before the lockout, they signed a number of players, and still, they are looking to make more signings, once the lockout is over.

However, the recent news might upset the New York Mets’ fans even more. As their top pitching prospect, Matt Allan is unlikely to make his appearance this season at the ballpark. Yes, the Mets’ pitching prospect had another surgery this year and is yet to recover from the surgery.

Notably, during the 2021 season, Matt Allan had Tommy John surgery in May And even after that the Mets’ prospect didn’t recover fully fit.

Recently in January, Allan had another surgery to repair nerve tissue. However, Allan is confident that he will be able to in the 2022 season.

According to Yahoo Sports, Allan is looking for a long-term solution to his injury, as the Mets’ prospect is not in a hurry.

“I want to pitch in the big leagues for 10, 12 years. I don’t want to pitch in the big leagues for a year and then go down with another injury,” Allan said. “And so making sure that this whole things goes right is on the forefront of everybody’s mind, especially mine. I feel awesome right now, I can’t wait to play catch. I know when I was throwing through TJ, it was going really, really well. Ball was coming out really out, but I’m even more excited to see how good I feel now.”

However, the nerve transposition surgery might not be a worry for the Mets, as he is not the only one who’s had this surgery. Before him, Jacob deGrom, and Steven Matz have also gone through this operation.
