Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez may have left behind his playing career, but the spotlight refuses to quit on him. Starting a new broadcast show with sportscaster Michael Kay, A-Rod sat through most of the Yankees game on Sunday without incident, but Kay was not ready to let the opportunity pass.

With A-Rod’s ex-fiancé recently announcing her new engagement to movie star Ben Affleck, Michael Kay couldn’t resist getting in a comment about it. And Rodriguez had a reaction to remember.

With the former World Series Champion and Jennifer Lopez announcing their separation in February, A-Rod appeared to not want to engage about the subject at all. Jennifer Lopez too was not too vocal about the split at the time.

However, as time went on, the rumors of her getting back with her former beau, Ben Affleck, began growing. And finally, the announcement of their engagement rolled around on April 8th via her own website, and like any good friend, Michael Kay couldn’t resist the opportunity as it presented itself.

Michael Kay takes a dig at Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez

Commentating during the Opening Day Series between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox, Michael Kay couldn’t resist slipping in a comment taking a dig at his co-host. Executed with a level of finesse, he started out tame before ending with a doozy. While commentating on the game on Sunday, at the top of the 9th with the Yankees trailing the Red Sox 4-3, Michael Kay took his gilt-edged opportunity.

Said Kay, “It’s a great time in sports. You have a new Masters champion, NBA playoffs are about to start, baseball’s in full swing, people getting engaged.”

Aware of exactly what he had said, Kay instantly chuckled as he play-punched his co-host. Aware of what Kay was getting him to do, A-Rod just laughed awkwardly and retorted with a general comment. Said A-Rod, “Happiness and world peace is what we’re looking for.

Clearly looking to start no new conversation, Rodriguez seems to have made his ‘peace’ with the situation. The former couple announced their separation after being engaged for two years in April 2021. While Lopez has since moved on and is now with Ben Affleck, details about A-Rod’s romantic situation are still elusive.
