Most athletes, after retirement, choose to move into the background. Either they stay involved with the game by getting into coaching or simply just enjoy retirement. Well, Alex Rodriguez seems to be doing neither. After his retirement, A-Rod has started several successful ventures under the A-Rod Corporation.

Rodriguez has acquired wide interests in several apps and has even forayed into sports team ownership. A-Rod is currently a stakeholder in the NBA’s Minnesota franchise. He shares ownership in the Timberwolves as well as the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx. He also holds private equity, venture investments, and a SPAC under his umbrella organization.

In his second coming as a businessman too, A-Rod is fulfilling his role as a mentor. Jeff Lee, DIBS Beauty CEO, spoke about A-Rod’s guidance as he transitioned into the business space. Lee, reportedly, didn’t even know who Alex Rodriguez was, prior to working with his corporation. He looked up the Yankees after he was hired. “After I graduated, I got a call from Alex Rodriguez. I wasn’t a baseball fan.”

A-Rod explained that Lee’s hire was very deliberate. “I don’t need someone who knows more about baseball than I do. I need someone like Jeff who comes from the world outside baseball that can help me speak to someone like him,” said Rodriguez.
