Notably, not only Gallo, but the Yankees star Anthony Rizzo, also has an Italian connection. And that makes the two of them, whose families have Italian roots. Recently, in a video tweeted by YES Network, Gallo revealed that his dad is hundred percent Italian, while his mom makes perfect meatballs. 

“My dad is 100% Italian,” Joey Gallo said. “So, we grew up in a somewhat Italian household. My family obviously being from New York. My mom makes fantastic meatballs. And my dad loves to see the Italian flags.”

Later in the video, Gallo also revealed that whenever his family watches him and Rizzo play together, it brings a lot of tears to them. “when me and Rizzo are playing, in the stands I think it probably brings a lot of tears. It’s awesome to be playing in New York,” added Gallo.

Notably, long before signing for the Yankees, Anthony Rizzo has also played for the National baseball team of Italy. He has represented Italy in the 2013 World Baseball Classic. However, his stint with the national team didn’t last long, and he returned to play in MLB.
