Jeter was known not only for his skillful play but also for his tremendous mental fortitude. The man was the center of arguably the most scrutinized team in baseball and came out of the other end better for it. And to watch how he did it is exciting not just for his fans, but possibly even fans of the game as the documentary takes shape. Lined up for a July release date, this may only be the trailer, but it seems to have gotten hooks into fans already.

The documentary not only captures Jeter’s journey as Yankee but also gives us a look at who he was before. A look into his childhood. The trailer itself starts with Derek Jeter setting out the vision he had for himself. “As long as I can remember, I have wanted to be shortstop for the New York Yankees,” he says.

And perhaps more interestingly, the documentary promises a look into Jeter’s mind. Having won a title with the Yankees once, Jeter speaks about going at it again. Says Jeter, “Once you win, there’s nothing else to do but to win again.”

It also appears as though the documentary may take a fresh look at his life while with the Yankees. Says Jeter, “Everything else that came with it, was not part of the dream.”
