Freddie Freeman and his switch to the LA Dodgers was undoubtedly one of the biggest transfers of the season. While free agents like Carlos Correa and Trevor Story were in talks for a switch since late last season too, it was only after the lockout that Freeman’s trade caught some real pace.

With his switch to the Dodgers going through, he finally took the diamond in blue as a part of spring training. And the first baseman seemed only too glad.

Freddie Freeman seems to be moving through the rhythms, taking his hits as they come rolling with the punches as he gets into the groove with his new team. Being a California native would obviously ease the acclimatization period and the switch seems to be doing wonders for Freeman. Freeman, however, just seemed relieved to get a game in after a long layoff from the sport.

Freeman opens up about playing as an LA Dodger

Freddie Freeman took the diamond for the first time as a Dodger in a 10-8 loss against the Reds. Freeman manned first base defensively and hit third in the order for a great showing for his new team. And something that the Dodgers will hope he can turn in for every game this season. Freeman Said, “There’s only a couple weeks till opening day , it was nice to finally get in a game.”

And speaking about the change in scenery, Freeman seemed glad at the switch. For Freeman, it seemed to be more of a return to his home than switch to an alien team. “Fans were awesome to make me feel at home so it was a good day”, he added.

Speaking about the support he got from his new fans, Freeman seemed only too glad. “It was exciting. New chapter and fans chanting my name is definitely very nice,” he said, “usually Dodger fans aren’t chanting my name over the last 12 years so it was nice.”

And in a return to his native California, Freeman will never lack the support at Dodger stadium. “I have everybody from an aunt to two 1-year-olds out here today so hopefully they’re doing okay and it’s not chaotic in the stands but everyone that was here in town was able to come out and support me so that was nice”, said Freeman.

Also the Dodgers organization seems to have welcomed him with open arms. Freeman Said , “They’ve been very welcoming and let me get my bearings here and it’s been a great 5 days so far.”
