“Number 680!”- Albert Pujols Scores His First Home Run for the St. Louis Cardinals in His Final MLB Season

St. Louis Cardinals’ first baseman, Albert Pujols, has scored his first home run for the Cardinals since rejoining them. Notably, the MLB 2022 season will be the last season of Pujol’s baseball career. The Cardinals re-signed Albert Pujols on March 28th, 2022, just 10 days before Opening Day.

42-year-old Dominican Albert Pujols has begun his final MLB season with a bang as he scored his first home run of the MLB 2022 season. On April 13th, 2022, the St. Louis Cardinals faced the Kansas City Royals at the Busch Stadium, in Missouri.

The Cardinals ended up winning the game 6-5. With this win, the St. Louis Cardinals currently lead the NL Central Division with 3 wins and 1 loss. The Division also includes the Chicago Cubs, the Milwaukee Brewers, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Albert Pujols scores his first home run for the last season with St. Louis Cardinals

Albert Pujols returned to the St. Louis Cardinals after 11 years on March 22nd, as he signed a 1-Year, $2.5 M contract with them. Cardinals fans were delighted to hear this news, as Pujols returned to the Cardinals for his final MLB season. On April 12th, 2022, Pujols scored his first home run for the MLB season and his 680th career home run.

In the 1st Inning, Pujols scored the home run to a pitch by Royals pitcher, Daniel Lynch, into the Deel Left. Pujols scored a home run after 3855 days since his last game with the Cardinals in 2011.

“Out to deep left. It is gone! Welcome back Albert, it’s like you never left. Number 680. And he does it, back in St. Louis,” exclaimed the commentator.

Knowing that he is just 20 home runs away from achieving the 700 career home run mark is incredible. Pujols is one of the most respected MLB players at the moment. Age is just a number for Albert Pujols. His extreme athleticism and determination skills are incredible. His 21-year journey in the MLB has been an inspiration for so many baseball aspirants, be it with the St. Louis Cardinals, be it the Los Angeles Angels, or be it the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Things are looking good for the Cardinals in the NL Central Division as of now, as their only loss so far came against the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 9th, 2022, when the Pirates defeated them 9-4.
