With the lockout in full swing and baseball action in a dead drop, fans have found unique sources of entertainment. Some of them manage to keep the rest of us raptured, too. And Reddit is nothing if not for entertaining. A user came up with the unique idea of drawing Mike Trout for every day that the Lockout is in progress and it seems like things have taken a dark turn recently.

The LA Angels’ impact star is looking to make his way back from injury in 2022. While only having limited playing time in 2021, Trout will be looking to get into the groove at Anaheim next season. And while we wait for the ceremonial first pitch to come through, fans have found ways to keep themselves occupied.

A definite feature on the LA Angels’ stars in 2022, Trout is also big on fan attention. The center fielder has been featured in several illustrations by a Reddit user but perhaps none as funny or as graphic as highlighted by a Twitter user.

The illustrations feature several humorous scenarios, much as a part of routine. The illustrations have so far included the LA Angels tandem of Ohtani, Trout and Pujols mid-dance to the Single Ladies routine but have mainly centered around Trout.

Several other pieces feature Trout on a wrecking ball-esque set up. Except, that the wrecking ball is a baseball.

The most recent illustration, though, is what has sent the internet into a tizzy. The illustration features Trout devouring the mangled corpse of Jose Altuve. The illustration is reminiscent of the Greek and Roman story of Kronos or Saturn eating his children as a supersized individual. And while the artist may simply be putting forth a metaphor, we are left to ponder as to why this description is so graphic?

Mike Trout – the player

The 30-year-old enters his 12th season in the MLB, looking to make it big. Having played only 36 games last season before being forced to rest for the duration of the campaign for an ACL injury, Trout will be ready and raring to go.

With the acquisition of Syndergaard on the pitching rotation and Ohtani coming good as a two-way player, the Angels are deemed for success in 2022. Undertaking a way more aggressive approach than the rest of his career in 2021, Trout was hitting all-time high stats while he played.

In the 2021 season, by the time Trout had played 30 games, he had an outstanding stat line. His batting average stood at .372 with a .713 slugging percentage. And with a .488 on-base percentage, his stats were all career highs for his first 30 games of a season.

Trout will be looking to resume the 2022 season where he left off. And with the lockout seemingly on without end still, what we won’t be seeing from Trout at Anaheim, we might just get in black and white from Reddit.
