Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez needs no introduction in the sporting world. Over the past 15-20 years, A-Rod has been one of the most popular faces in the sports fraternity. After retiring from the game of baseball, the Yankees’ great became a successful businessman.

Currently, A-Rod is one of the wealthiest sports personalities in the world. Even now, he is a significant face of baseball on a global level. A-Rod might not be the greatest MLB player, but when it comes down to popularity, no one is even close to him.

After his successful stint as a player in Major League Baseball, A-Rod also owns multiple properties in his name. In 2021, he also became a part-owner of the NBA side, the Minnesota Timberwolves. And as per the man himself, he was highly inspired by NBA legend Magic Johnson to step into sports ownership.

However, A-Rod believes that his mentor Magic Johnson has been a guiding force behind him. Recently, talking to Andy Serwer of Yahoo Finance, he opened up about a meeting that he had with Johnson. A-Rod said that when he saw Johnson owning an MLB team, he knew what to do next. And guess what? In 2021, A-Rod became a part-owner of the NBA side, the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“He gave me some incredible insight into a meeting that was supposed to be 30 minutes but went to about three and half hours…When I saw Magic do what he has done institutional with Starbucks, 24-hour-fitness, and others… I saw him go from the Lakers to the Dodgers. And I go, wait a minute, why can’t I go from MLB to NBA. And that’s exactly what happened,” said A-Rod.

Notably, NBA legend Magic Johnson is also a part-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers play in Major League Baseball, and they are one of the most successful franchises in the league.
