The MLB is a magnet for baseball talent. And proudly so. Presenting the most commercially viable opportunity in the sport for an athlete to make the most of his talents. And still, there is always the cream of the crop. No matter the pool of talent the best of the lot always rises to the top. And keeping with the theme, MLB has recently released its own list of the top 100 players currently operating. With some notable absences.

MLB has prospered several fold under the growing popularity of the sport. And its biggest profiteers have been the team owners along with the players in the league. And the top players definitely seem to be making the most of their opportunity. However, even large teams like the New York Yankees and their players have failed to make the cut this year in MLB’s list of top 100.
No New York Yankees feature on the MLB list
The New York Yankees seem to have been lulled into a bit of sleep in recent times. Despite featuring some of the league’s top payrolls, the team has consistently made it to the playoffs, but only just. And with a majority of their post-season runs ending short of a pennant, the performances have surely been underwhelming for them. However, to have no players featuring on the top 10 of the list is surely a damning statement.

Fans could have expected either star pitcher Gerrit Cole, right fielder Aaron Judge or even designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton to feature, however, they return disappointed. The list though is full of notable inclusions too. With the apple of MLB’s eye at the moment, Shohei Ohtani topping the list the inclusions ranged from young Washington Nationals hitter Juan Soto to experienced LA Angels statesman Mike Trout as well.
Carlos Correa Absent?
The list was also notable for one more exclusion than all of its inclusions. The list left out the darling of the 2022 off-season Carlos Correa from its top 10. Despite commanding a solid resume including a two-way presence both defensively and offensively, Correa was unable to crack the top 10. Featuring at #14 on the list, Correa only just missed out.

And while few will differ on the players featured at the moment, there will surely be some fans upset at the shortstops’ exclusion from the list.

But what do you think? Do you agree with the top 10 featured? Or would you have included some other player? Or perhaps excluded some that are on the list at the moment.
