Carlos Correa is now history for the Houston Astros. On March 19th, Correa signed a new three-year contract with the Minnesota Twins and left his former team, Houston Astros. However, while the deal saw mixed reactions from fans and critics alike, Astros’ second baseman, Jose Altuve, is happy for his former teammate.
Undoubtedly, Correa will be a huge miss for the Astros this season. Because, after playing for a total of seven seasons at the Astros, Correa had established himself as a core member of the team.

But now, after his departure from the Astros, the management will have to find someone else for the shortstop position. Recently, Correa’s former teammate Jose Altuve revealed that the Astros were committed to bringing Correa back to the Minute Maid Park. But the deal never panned out.

When free agency reopened, no one would have imagined that Correa would end up at the Twins; That too, when teams like the New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, and even his former team, the Astros, were after him. But Carlos Correa surprised everyone after choosing Minnesota Twins as his new home.
Correa signed a three-year contract with the Twins for a massive $105.3 million, with an option to opt-out in the first two years of his contract. After this deal, fans speculated that the Astros were not interested in bringing Correa back. But Correa’s friend and former teammate, Jose Altuve, confirmed the Astros were serious about re-signing the star shortstop.

According to Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle, Altuve said that he wasn’t involved in the process. But he believes the Astros were committed to bringing their marquee player back. Altuve also expressed that such things happen in MLB and he is happy for Correa.
