Due to the ongoing lockout in Major League Baseball, spring training has been officially postponed for one week. And if the owners and players’ association do not agree on the new CBA deal at the earliest, then it is very likely that the league games will be compromised too.

However, even before the start of the regular season of MLB, baseball fans might already have the best catch of the season. Yes, this happened during a university-level baseball match on Friday, when a catcher surprised fans with an unbelievable catch at the ropes.

On Friday, during a university-level match between the Florida Gators and Liberty Flames, Derek Orndorff of the Flames grabbed a stunning catch at the ropes and denied a home run to the Gators’ hitter. Orndorff double jumped at the ropes to catch the ball, which left the spectators awestruck.

The video is making rounds on the internet and considering the difficulty of the catch, baseball fans believe it as the “Catch of The Year”. Notably, Liberty Flames and Florida Gators compete at the university level.

After introducing two new rules – inclusion of universal DH and draft lottery – in MLB, the owners are reportedly reducing the roster of minor league players. According to ESPN, instead of 180, now MLB teams will keep only 150 minor league players on their roster.

With this new rule, hundreds of minor leaguers will lose their jobs. However, it is not official yet, but the owners will most likely implement this from this season onwards.
