New York Mets have already lost their key player to a shoulder injury. And this hit on Lindor’s head did not look good. However, thankfully, the Mets’ shortstop didn’t suffer any injury, and he started playing again after that hit.

This incident also led to the first real bench-clearing of the 2022 MLB season. The two sides clashed with each other in the ballpark.

Francisco Lindor doubts Nationals’ pitcher intentionally hit him

Within two days of the regular season, the game of baseball has seen everything. Be it the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry, a couple of walk-off home runs, or even underdogs outscoring the heavyweights of the league. Along with that, this season also witnessed an injury-threatening hit by a pitcher.

The video is doing rounds on Twitter. One can see in the video that, when Lindor got hit, both sides engaged in a brawl amidst the game. And as per Lindor, it was an intentional hit by the Nationals’ pitcher, Steve Cishek.

When asked if the hit was intentional or not, as per ESPN, Lindor said, ” I doubt it.” On the other hand, Steve Cishek expressed that it was unintentional. “It was unintentional. And I wish, it never happened,” said Cishek. However, after the incident, Cishek apologized to Lindor, and the two shook hands.

Even renowned journalist Jeff Passan confirmed Lindor is perfectly fine after being hit with an 88 mph pitch. “X-rays on Francisco Lindor’s jaw were negative, and he passed concussion testing after being hit on the C-flap with an 88-mph pitch earlier tonight,” tweeted Passan.

This is the second hit on a Mets player within two days. Earlier on the opening day, Pete Alonso also got hit by a similar pitch. And he had to leave the game right after that. That is the main reason why the brawl took place in game 2 against the Nationals.
