Freddie Freeman could well turn out to be a dark horse in the 2022 off-season. With his free agency running its course amid the lockout, Freeman hasn’t yet agreed to a deal with his hometown Atlanta Braves. And while the lockout may play a large part in no fixed agreement coming about yet, Freeman could well be headed away.

Having won the World Series in 2021, Freeman seems to be resting up in the offseason. At least before all activity resumes, Freeman is getting his swings in with his only available practice mate. Unable to use club facilities because of the lockout, Freeman took to his backyard to perfect his skills.

Freeman has been a part of the Braves landscape from early on. Featuring on the roster since 2010, Freeman has been a centerpiece of the tapestry the Braves have weaved since. His finest moment, though definitely comes in 2021 when he won the World Series with his franchise. Speaking a bit more personally, perhaps his finest moments came in the pandemic shortened 2020 season where he won National League MVP, but having seen him, he will undoubtedly rate his title win over any other accolades.

The first baseman has recently been part of several conversations related to his free agency. With the New York Yankees expressing the desire to reinforce 1st base, and Luke Voit rumored to be traded too, Freeman could be poised to don the pinstripes next season. And despite the Truist Park faithful hoping against such a switch actually panning out, baseball is a fickle mistress.

Freeman absolutely dispatches a pitch that his son throws to him, beyond his backyard; presumably, in disbelief, we see his son drop the balls that he was holding for the pitches to follow. In what can only be described as heartwarming, we see Freeman drop his bat onto the ground in a similar fashion before running off to fetch the lost pitch from beyond the frame. Freeman certainly seems to be making the most of his time off with the time spent with family.
