Earlier on February 28, MLB owners had given a deadline to complete the agreement. But the players’ union didn’t accept the owners’ proposal. And MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred had to cancel a few league games and extend the lockout.

Even now, the two parties are on the same side, as one of the MLB spokesmen shared a worrying update regarding the collective bargaining agreement.

Disagreement between MLB owners and the Players’ Union continues

After the deadline day on February 28, the owners and the players’ union met on Sunday for the CBA negotiation. But seems like it didn’t go well, as the disagreement between the two parties continues. Notably, to start the regular season, both the owners and players must have to get over with the CBA at the earliest. Because the league has already lost at least 90 games of this season.

“We were hoping to see some movement in our direction to give us additional flexibility and get a deal done quickly,” said MLB spokesman. “The Players Association chose to come back to us with a proposal that was worse than Monday night and was not designed to move the process forward. On some issues, they even went backwards. Simply put, we are deadlocked.”

Notably, if the lockout continues, then it will be difficult to complete the full season in the end. With MLB already losing two series games of each team, baseball fans will be hoping that the two sides agree to the CBA as soon as possible.
