The Detroit Tigers have started their 2022 MLB campaign on a strong note. And for this, they must thank their superstar shortstop, Javier Baez. Notably, Baez has been spot-on for the Tigers in every game they have played him in the 2022 season.

First, he smashed a walk-off home run in the opening day game against the Chicago White Sox and won the game for the Tigers. Later, El Mago clubbed another home run against the Boston Red Sox and won the game.

Javier Baez is enjoying every bit of life at the Detroit Tigers

Javier Baez, aka El Mago, has been sensational for the Tigers, no doubt about that. Probably, he was the missing puzzle of the Tigers’ roster for the 2022 season. As Baez has been the clear difference between the Tigers’ wins and losses this season.

Earlier on Tuesday, after winning it for the Tigers, Baez said that the Tigers can surprise the heavyweights in 2022. And why not? Given the strength of their squad, the Tigers can easily overcome any side in the league.

“Ever since I got here in spring training, it’s been really fun…,” Javier Baez said. “I think the window to win it all is right now in Detroit…You know out here, trying to control those emotions is big a key in big moments. And I think we can surprise a few teams. If we play good baseball, we can make it to the playoffs.”

Until now, the Tigers have defeated the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox in the league games. And given their performances, a few more upsets are probably on the cards.

Notably, earlier in the 2022 free agency, Baez signed a six-year deal with the Detroit Tigers worth a whopping $140 million deal. And it seems like a great deal for the Tigers and Baez, both.
