Jackie Chan Suffered a Massive $14 Million Blow Over Ownership Dispute in 2020

The incredible martial arts legend Jackie Chan embarked on his acting career without a backup plan. As a result, his journey to fame was paved with obstacles, difficulties, and various failures. However, even as he achieved the ultimate status of a legend, Chan struggled with a legal issue.

Chan used to live in two apartments in Beijing that are now being put up for auction. Meanwhile, an ownership conflict appears to be the cause of the legal suit.

Jackie Chan struggling with authorities for property

Chan and his family have been residing in the neighboring flats of a residential compound in the Dongzhimen district of the capital city. As per the sources of Mainland Chinese media, Chan’s apartments under dispute had a combined area of 1,217 m2.

Along with this, the houses also had six bedrooms and three living spaces. With a starting bid of $10.5 million, Chan’s properties were auctioned on September 30, 2020. The apartments, however, have a reported market worth of $14.6 million.

After performing some promotional work for the developer Yujia Real Estate, Chan reportedly spent about $4.9 million on the dual property.

How Chan got struck in an ownership matter

It is currently being asserted that Yujia mishandled Chan’s rights transfer. Yujia’s assets were seized and sold by a court in July. Meanwhile, Yujia is now claiming ownership of the flats in connection with a dispute over payments between Yujia and Tenhong Real Estate.

A pool table, roomy walk-in closets, and a framed photo of the “Rush Hour” star standing with former U.S. President Barack Obama were all seen during virtual tours of the homes.

Chan has diverse commercial interests and is one of China’s highest-paid and longest-lasting movie stars. He is believed to own different properties, including some in Hong Kong.
