San Juan and Team Miami dueled each other in a close contest where the tide could have shifted anywhere. However, it was Jimmer Fredette who clinched the final points of the match. USA Basketball 3×3 tweeted a video of his match-ending bucket with the caption, “PUTBACK FTW #3x3WTAbuDhabi | @jimmerfredette.” The video showcased Fredette grabbing an offensive rebound off teammate Kareem Maddox’s attempt and finishing with a spectacular bucket. The final bucket came with just 49 seconds remaining, with San Juan dangerously close to victory themselves.
The 3×3 basketball specialist winged the last bucket when the score was 20-19. Antonio Ralat, the high scorer of San Juan, had a 3/5 hot hand from downtown in the match. However, Fredette secured an offensive rebound before Ralat could gain another possession and win the 3×3 basketball game. The nail-biting victory comes days after Fredette propelled USA to their second Pan American Games victory in Santiago.
