Flying high on the heels of his new record, LeBron James is all the rage in NBA right now. The Lakers superstar has entertained NBA fans for nearly two decades now, and he is hardly out of touch. But King James’ antics aren’t just restricted to the court. The all-time highest scorer in NBA history recently addressed the press, where he talked about his dream of owning a team NBA team in Las Vegas, a city he believes is booming in the sports industry. However, a minor goof-up from him is all it took for the netizens to have a fun day in the online world.

In the press conference, LeBron James talked about how all the sports teams in Vegas are doing really well in recent times. He starts listing them, but when he names the NHL team based out of Sin City, he confuses it with the NHL team based out of LA. Since both LA-based teams (NBA and NHL) are owned by the same man, it didn’t long for the fans to connect the dots behind his mix-up. “The Golden Knights”, said some of the reporters, rectifying James in his mix-up. LeBron James was listing the names of all the Vegas-based teams – Vegas Aces (NBA), Vegas Raiders (NFL), and Vegas Golden Knights (NHL), except he didn’t really say the last one correctly. Instead, he called them Vegas Kings. Kings, based out of LA, is closer to James’ home team in NBA – LA Lakers. So could it be that he was just very close to all teams from his home city or was it just a simple goof-up from the NBA legend?

Both LA-based teams (Kings and Lakers) are owned by the same man – Colorado-based Philip Anshutz via his subsidiary company, Anshutz Entertainment Group. However, James took his mistake on his chin, but not just in a stoic way, rather in a funny way. His sense of humor saved the day when he realized his own mistake and said, “Kings is in LA right? Two kings in LA”, followed by a cackle of laughter from the crowd. Here’s how the fans reacted:

The Slovenian basketball player, who plays for the Mavericks, is one of the most famous faces in the NBA to come out of Europe. However, when James took his name, he decided to make a light-hearted joke out of his name. James said, “I’m gonna go with ‘Hookah’… (pauses) Luka Doncic”. When the fans learned about this deliberate mess-up, they found it rather uncool of him.

But keeping his goof-ups aside, people aren’t really too mad at him for his performance. If anything, some are already hailing as one of the GOATs. Whether James buys a Vegas team still remains to be seen, but the NHL team Golden Knights will remember him for a long time for this goof up.
