Dave Portnoy never shies away from sharing his unfeigned perspective on subjects that intrigue him. While the Barstool Sports owner still recovers from misplaced wagers, his recent prediction about the Green Bay Packers turned saw a downhill. Ahead of the heavyweight clash between the New York Giants and the Green Bay Packers, Portnoy claimed the visitors would win the match “by a zillion“. However, it wasn’t to be.

Rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito took the opportunity to help the Giants overpower the Packers as they won the match 24-22. Even without their star QB Daniel Jones, the hosts pulled up an unprecedented win and Portnoy had to draw a parallel with fictional sports manager Jerry McGuire to express his feelings.

Dave Portnoy nods his hat at Giants’ QB’s agent

In a recent post on X, Portnoy took on DeVito’s manager in the most El Presidente way possible. Jones’ absence was the one thing that fueled Portnoy’s hopes about the Giants’ downfall at the hands of the Green Bay Packers.

Ahead of the clash, Portnoy had shared a photo of DeVito highlighting how the Giants are thin on their quarterback line. He claimed this will lead to the inevitable triumph of the Packers. However, hours after the final whistle, Portnoy had to backtrack on his words and pay DeVito’s manager the respect he deserves.

I feel like Tommy Devito and his agent are a bizarro world Jerry McGuire“, wrote Dave on his social media post. His words not only nod at DeVito’s agent but also present him as a person who could defy reality to pull off something truly incredible and inspirational. In yesterday’s match, DeVito probably put out the best performance of his career so far. Playing a crucial role in the Giants’ late touchdown, the rookie won the hearts of the fans.

While his performance is beyond reproach, Portnoy thinks the quarterback’s agent did something truly inspirational to have motivated DeVito to perform as he did. Drawing the instance of the famous sports manager played by Hollywood star Tom Cruise, Portnoy is sure that DeVito’s agent is the man of the hour.

The Giants’ upset win has understandably irked El Presidente to no extent. Given his current luck with both the Cincinnati Bengals and the New England Patriots, Portnoy was hopeful of the Packers ruining the day for the Giants. However, Tommy DeVito made just his fourth career start as the Giants’ quarterback on December 12th. Interestingly, the undrafted rookie fully looked the part, leading New York Giants to a 24-22 comeback victory to trounce Green Bay Packers. Nevertheless, for Portnoy, though the prediction may have gone wrong, he took a moment to acknowledge DeVito’s incredible spree.
