Surfing Legend Claims Tom Brady Confided in Him About the Biggest Decision of His Career

We have seen a lot of friendship between the legends in sports, but the NFL star Tom Brady and surfing icon Kelly Slater shares a very special bond. Both the athletes are at the zenith of their respective sports and have accomplished almost every record in the book. However, perhaps they are the kind of athletes who don’t play for records. For them, it’s about the sheer passion for the game they’ve played their entire life.

Kelly’s contribution to surfing is similar to Tom’s journey in the NFL. Both have risen beyond the sport, they play to become international celebrities. Their combined impact on the world of sports is immeasurable. Although Kelly is 50-year-old and Tom is in his 40s, and their hunger for the game is still on. Kelly hasn’t given any thought to retirement as of now, while his friend Tom has realized “my place is still on the field and not in the stands.”

Kelly Slater Reveals Tom Brady told him about career switch

In a recent interview, the surfer Kelly Slater talked about Tom Brady sharing an intrinsic detail about his career with him, before making the news public. He said, “I heard rumor that Tom was going to play for Tampa Bay in about a week or two. Before he announced it I messaged him and I said tell me it’s true and he just sent me a smiley emoji back and about a week or two later he announced it and we’ve been real happy back in Florida.”

While the host pestered him about why didn’t he reveal the information, Kelly further added, “I didn’t tell anybody that. I think if you have a line of communication with somebody about something that’s this trustworthy, you keep that. It’s fun to just have that banter with people in the sports world.”

Amongst his many achievements, being at the Oscars as a presenter might be Kelly’s favorite. He was part of the award show, along with his sports buddies Shaun White and Tony Hawk. The trio celebrated the 60 years of James Bond in Hollywood and paid their respect to the character and the actors who have played the role.
