After Cheering for Oklahoma Following Their Triumph Over Texas, Dave Portnoy Revives His 21 YO “Portnoy Pledge”

Soon after the Red River Rivalry over Texas, the Oklahoma Sooners were on cloud nine. From fans cheering and celebrating the win like a festival, to their passion-fueled video dedicated to their fierce win in the last match got the unwavering support of a renowned NFL analyst.
The cheers were loud, the celebrations were wild, and amidst all that excitement, a certain Dave Portnoy found himself switching sides and cheering for the Sooners. The founder of Barstool Sports, known for his unwavering support for Michigan, was seen rallying behind Oklahoma in his recent post.

What and why is the sudden change of heart? It all goes back to a 21-year-old promise known as the “Portnoy Pledge”. This pledge was made by Portnoy in response to Lincoln Riley’s abrupt departure from OU to become the head coach of the USC Trojans. Portnoy took to Twitter to express his support for the Sooners and his disdain for Riley’s actions. His tweet read: “Dear all OU football fans. I will personally see to it that Michigan Kicks the shit out of Lincoln Riley for the way he treated you. Your hatred is now my hatred. I will avenge you.”

Fast forward to today, and it seems like Portnoy is making good on his promise. After OU’s triumphant victory over Texas, Portnoy revived his old pledge and once again declared his support for the Sooners.
