Dave Portnoy Champions Noble Cause over His Aversion to Buffalo Bills and Kids

This NFL season, the team Buffalo Bills saw many ups and downs. Meanwhile, they found themselves on the wrong side of things after they lost their match against the Philadelphia Eagles. None other than Dave Portnoy came out heavily on them with his scathing comments. In a short but powerful tweet, Dave made his dislike of the Bills evident. Interestingly, that same Portnoy was recently found sporting a Bills sweatshirt!

What was more astonishing, even after wearing the Bills sweatshirt, Portnoy explicitly stated his hatred against the team many a time. Why did the Barstool owner then put it on?

Dave Portnoy keeps charity above preferences

The recent tweet by Dave Portnoy was captioned as “Attention Bills Mafia Support URMed_GCH Buy this sweatshirt.” In this tweet, Dave Portnoy promoted the Buffalo Bills sweatshirt painted and drawn with various cute designs by Golisano Children’s Hospital’s kids. In the accompanying clip, Dave repeatedly mentioned that he does not like the kids at the Buffalo Bills, still, he was promoting it to raise money for the hospital. “…it’s the charities, the kids“, Portnoy said.

Further explaining Dave said, “I don’t like the bills. I don’t like kids. But I am still not trying to raise some money because I like the good people of Buffalo. And they deserve to make the playoffs…If I were a Bills Mafia fan, this would be a must-own cute sweatshirt for the holidays. 100% of the proceeds to Golisano Children’s Hospital.” Understandably, the reason was so big that Portnoy could not stop himself from standing for it. Even though it involves promoting a team he slayed a few days back.

Portnoy lashes out at Bills over loss

It was in response to Bill’s loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. On November 26 The Eagles handed out a 37-34 defeat to the Bills in an NFL match. The Eagles’ offense capitalized on every opportunity, while their defense blocked the Bills’ attempts to score. Despite Buffalo’s two takeaways leading to a 17-7 halftime lead, the Eagles bounced back in the second half and overtime, scoring touchdowns on three of five possessions.

Bills’ QB Josh Allen put up a good show throwing two touchdowns and rushing for two scores. Wide receiver Gave Davis also contributed a touchdown and 6 catches. However, a misunderstanding between the two at a crucial moment in the overtime paved the way for the Eagles’ comeback. This drew Dave Portnoy’s ire as he took to his X and wrote, “The Bills suck”. Despite that stance, it is heartwarming to see how he keeps all to stand for a greater cause.
