The Minnesota Vikings fans received a jolt of electricity right up their spine when they lost a game that was easily within their grasp. While the overtime play was already bad enough, everything spiraled down in the final seconds of the match, with quarterback Nick Mullens in the center of everything.

The Cincinnati Bengals struck the Vikings hard for the mistake of their rookie player. Barstool Sports ‘El Presidente’ Dave Portnoy was especially disappointed by the blunder made by the quarterback. Portnoy took to social media and slandered Nick Mullens for his performance in the three-point loss.

Dave Portnoy made a tweet from his official X account to take a dig at Nick Mullens. The tweet carried the caption, “Nick Mullins may be the worst Qb who has ever put on an NFL uniform.” Not satisfied with just one tweet, he wrote another and said, “Nick Mullins is the dumbest, worst, luckiest, best, worst QB I’ve ever seen.”

Portnoy further added, “I think I could play Qb at this point.” Nick Mullens found himself in a pinch situation as the Cincinnati Bengals constantly gained ground on his team. The quarterback got surrounded and was about to be sacked. He tried to hurl the ball outside to stop the clock and allow his team to reposition, but his throw got intercepted. This forced the Vikings to waste their final timeout while also vanquishing their chance to score, costing the game.

While Mullens’ intentions were in the right place, taking the sack would have been the smarter decision strategically. While Portnoy breathed fire on Nick Mullens, Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell took the quarterback’s side.

According to O’Connell, “I thought Nick Mullens played well enough to give us a chance to go into overtime on the road and win a game… As a team, we just didn’t do enough in the end.” While he shielded Nick Mullens, he also registered disappointment for the loss.

The coach said, “Very unfortunate… Come on the road and battle a team that’s playing well right now. Felt like we let one slip away.” With their loss against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Vikings now have seven wins and seven losses in their 2023 record.
