It’s been a hot minute since Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens bemoaned in unison – “I do” at the Harris County Courthouse in Houston before shifting their sights on the big prize – Cabo. While there’s a lot transpiring in their personal lives, with Owens’ shift to the iconic Chicago Bears to Simone Biles showcasing her mettle for the behemoth games, they haven’t deprived their fans of their glittery marriage ceremony from last year. Set against the bucolic backdrop of Cabo on May 6th with thousands of attendees in attendance, it was a star-studded event featuring two stars tying the knot, pun intended. They initially met as complete strangers in 2019 at a Houston Texans game but officially crossed paths only the following year, with the advent of technology bringing them to inevitable holy matrimony.

The couple’s serendipitous encounter happened via the dating app Raya back in 2020, were instantaneously smitten with each other and the rest is history. Harboring starry neon-sign aspirations of a destination wedding, Simone Biles had proclaimed that –“We had to get married ‘legally’ here in the U.S. since our wedding will be a destination wedding”. With ample planning and meticulous planning done beforehand, the dynamic duo exuded couple goals as Biles was decked to the nines in a ballgown skirt and a Galia Lahav gown. Owens on the other hand, looked dapper dressed in his Sunday’s best, a shimmering bespoke white suit with a trendy bow tie to boot.

Simone Biles reminisced about her destination wedding, saying, “We had the best night of our lives. It was a 12 out of 10!” This experience must have become her solace when she had to stay away from her husband, Jonathan Owens, after their marriage because of sporting engagements. Now, to give a view of that pomp from last year, Simone Biles has recently shared several unforeseen snaps from her beloved day of becoming Mrs. Owens. It’s also worth mentioning that they obtained their marriage license too in the state of Texas. Simone Biles was over the moon with a penned caption – “Almost time to say ‘I do’ 📄🤍,” 

On May 6, Simone Biles and her husband Jonathan Owens celebrated the first anniversary of their destination wedding. So, teasing the brewing interest of netizens, Simone published the snaps through her IG story. The snaps displayed Simone Biles in her white deep cut wedding dress whereas JO appeared in the tan-shirt. In one snap, Jonathan’s custom-made shirt clip could be visible. Furthermore, several more snaps revealed the emotional journey the couple had been undergoing that day. 

In one snap, the NFL star could be seen sharing the frame with Simone’s foster father, Ronald Biles. Later, Ronald flaunted himself in one picture, shaking his legs with Simone Biles at the party. The couple celebrated the party night with their iconic sign of ‘J-S’. Furthermore, Simone also showcased her Prada heels worn on the prized day as part of her magnificent attire.

The Olympian was also framed with her close ones such as Nellie Biles. With such a presence, the celebrated occasion became a homely affair between the Biles and Owens families. In her past conversations, Simone admitted keeping the couple’s destination wedding affair close-knit, yet different from their court-house marriage from April 22, 2023.

While the couple solidified their bonding legally in Harris County Courthouse weeks before the Cabo San Lucas razzmatazz, Simone Biles planned distinctly to celebrate both occasions. As she admitted previously, her court day appearance was much sober. Touching the $120 ceiling, the Cabo attire was a little bit on the higher side. 

In a conversation with a media house, Simone Biles claimed, “I was nervous about having a ball gown because I’m so petite — but it works [perfectly]. The leg slit was very crucial. It was to add, in my head, more length to my body. I think this is exactly how brides are supposed to feel — luxurious, beautiful, kind of on top of the world.” However, she had pulled it off nicely as the unforeseen pictures showcased.
