When the competition gets fierce, fans get a massive dose of entertainment. This is exactly what happened in a recent match of the Minnesota Wild versus the New York Rangers. Audiences saw an interesting brawl between Minnesota Wilds’ Ryan Reaves and New York Islanders’ Ross Johnson. A recent Facebook post captures this amusing fight and NHL fans couldn’t resist commenting.

While some fans talked about enjoying the fight, other fans didn’t find it interesting. Surprisingly, a Boston Bruins fan also made an intriguing comment. So what happened in the ice hockey match which made thousands of fans react?

The thrilling match and the unforgettable scuffle between Ryan Reaves and Ross Johnson 

This match took place on 28th February 2023 in Minnesota’s Xcel Energy Center. Dropping gloves, Johnson and Reaves got into a scuffle in the game’s first period. Landing punches on the New York Islander Ross Johnson, Reaves temporarily obstructed Johnson from scoring. Hitting each other on the helmets, Reaves and Johnson continued fighting to the roar of the fans in the background However, the game was not over yet. Post this brawl, the two teams competitively fought the game and the second period saw 14 shots. Later the teams ended up being tied, causing the game to be played over time.

In this overtime period, the Islanders gave the Wilds tough competition. However, Filip Gustavsson, playing for the Minnesota Wild successfully prevented all the shots by the Islanders in his direction. The Islanders, Simon Holmstrom, Bo Horvat, and Kyle Palmieri couldn’t score at the shootout.

The opposing team didn’t let go of this. Grasping the opportunity, Wild’s forward Frederick Gaudreau scored at the shootout, leading Minnesota Wild to victory with the score 2-1. This however did not divert fans from the brawl between Wild player Ryan Reaves and Islanders player Ross Johnson. Reacting to their fight, fans gave interesting and varied reactions on Facebook.

A fan commented, “I always love seeing a little fighting mixed in with a little dancing.”  Another fan who also enjoyed the fight wrote, “Good fight, and good way to set the tone early.” 

Disagreeing with these opinions, a Boston Bruins fan made an engaging comment. “I wish fighting was better than that. When I was born u would be seeing fighting too that point where there was blood in the mix of the fighting. Ik I love hockey and all but come on.” Agreeing that the fight was uninteresting, another fan shared, “Idk pretty lame fight. A couple shots to the helmet lol.”  Post this, another fan expressed his frustration about the fight, “Why do they allow this, ????????? disgusting.”  Clearly, fans are divided and have mixed opinions about the fight.
