He’s only played 59 games…” McDavid set a new record with 46 goals in 59 games, surpassing his previous mark of 44 goals in 80 games set in the 2021–22 season. Once again, the Oilers’ captain has shown why he is a crucial cog in the team’s success.

Tonight’s game against the Penguins was a homecoming nightmare for the Oilers. The Penguins were prepared to demonstrate that their opponents were in the wrong if they thought of defeating the Penguins in their own arena- the PPG Paints Arena. But then, in the 14th minute of the first period, Connor McDavid scored to tie the game. In the last minute of the first period, Oilers center Leon Draisaitl added another goal to the team’s advantage. McDavid scored in the 57th minute of the game during a penalty shootout as the Oilers continued their rout of the Penguins (2-7).
