The never-ending NHL record list of Wayne Gretzky also comes with his never-ending list of stories. The NHL legend retired in 1999, but his stories still remain prominent to this day. Another NHL legend recently discussed one of his stories. It’s really great to see the legends remember each other like this.

Mathieu Schneider, an American former NHL player, recently spoke about Wayne Gretzky on The Cam & Stick Podcast. Schneider recalls Gretzky’s last game and a lot of stories related to it.

“He actually in his last game he used I don’t know how many sticks I gotta guess,” Schneider said and continued, “He used like a 100 he used as many sticks as he could he was going around for a warm-up and he was shooting going back to the bounce picking up.” Schneider is unable to recall the number of sticks Gretzky used in his last game. As per his guess, Gretzky went for around 100 sticks during his last game, and even he was taken aback by this.

“He just pick up another stick every time he was doing the circle before just shooting,” Schneider said and continued, “Every shift he was using a different stick.” It was a never-ending sticking picking by ‘The Great One’. Schneider also recalls Gretzky even signed every single stick and gave it to the entire team during his last game.

He didn’t only sign the sticks but also Gretzky requested everyone to give anything that he can sign on. Schneider recalls how the entire team was really fond of ‘The Great One’. Everyone liked Gretzky no matter what.

Wayne Gretzky didn’t just get his title out of nowhere. For that reason, his dominant NHL career is the reason why he is still the greatest athlete of all time, even after all these years. Four Stanley Cup wins, the most goals of all time, the most assists of all time, and even 61 NHL records. His records are like his stories, which are never-ending.

He was 10 years old when he got the title of ‘The Great One’. Surprisingly, the NHL legend casually scored 400 goals when he was just 10 years old. Gretzky even said that this name was the reason he got more responsible as he got to carry the title. The performances that he gave had to synergize with his name or else it would have been just for nothing.
