NHL trades are one of the few news updates outside of the ice rink that fans get very excited about. And in the most recent one, two teams based out of Missouri and Michigan have made a bold move. St. Louis Blues and Detroit Red Wings have come together to fix a deal at the 7th-round pick. However, fans are far from thrilled with this piece of news.

NHL’s official Instagram handle posted this news for all their fans to see. But the news did not really delight the fans. Most of them expressed their dissatisfaction in the comments section.

Here’s how much Jakub Vrana meant to the Red Wings and their fans

The 7th-round pick in the 2025 NHL draft entry saw a major crisscross of picks between the Blues and Red Wings. Jakub Vrana, the Czech forward who played 42 games for the Detroit-based team since April 2021, will now resume his career with the St Louis Blues. In exchange, the Red Wings will acquire Dylan McLaughlin from the Blues. McLaughlin played for the Blues as a free agent from July 14, 2022. Vrana arrived at Detroit Red Wings in 2021, after a trade exchange that saw their left-wing Anthony Mantha move to the Washington Capitals. Vrana has since had a decent performance in the two years for the Red Wings. He scored 22 goals with 32 points during his stint there. However, this isn’t the only trade news that called for hue and cry from fans.

Similar to Vrana’s trade news, this year, a rumor sent fans of teams based in New York and Chicago into a frenzy. After rumors about Patrick Kane being traded by the Chicago Blackhawks to the New York Rangers started spreading, fans gave a strong reaction. While the reactions were strong, they captured the varying emotions of the fans of the respective teams.
