Recently, a video of an elated NHL fan went viral on Facebook who was overjoyed after shaking hands with the NHL Legend, Wayne Gretzky. However, social media users were quick to recognize the fan and put a name to his face. The fan was none other than the lead vocalist of the metal band August Burns Red a.k.a. Jake Luhrs.

On 3rd January, Luhrs went to support the Boston Bruins for their first match of the year. Luhrs got lucky when Wayne Gretzky came to shake hands with a few fans while passing by his seat. Jake Luhrs went berserk after shaking hands with the legend. The moment was captured on camera and soon it went viral on the internet. The fans had some hilarious reactions to the viral moment.

The lead vocalist of the band August Burns Red, Jake Luhrs, went hysterical after shaking hands with the NHL Legend, Wayne Gretzky. Screaming out in joy, he yelled, “I TOUCHED WAYNE GRETZKY’S HANDS! THINGS ARE CHANGING IN MY LIFE.” Soon the video capturing the moment went viral and fans had some hilarious reactions.

Making fun of Luhrs’ reaction a fan commented, “‘I TOUCHED WAYNE GRETZKY’S HAND’ He should put that in one of the lyrics.”

Another fan was quick to recognize the vocalist of his favorite band in the viral video. He wrote, “He’s the lead vocalist for one of my favorite bands, August Burns Red! That next album better be fire! 🤣”

Talking about Gretzky’s greatness, a fan commented, “How great is Wayne? A guy shakes his hand, says things are changing in his life. And immediately his team scores lol. The Great One.” Recalling the time they met Gretzky, another fan wrote, “I shook the hand of Wayne Gretzky in the Los Angeles Forum in November 1989. I was excited as well, not as much as that dude though. WoW!”

Another humorous fan commented, “He probably went home and framed his hand! LOL.” A fifth fan added, “It definitely looked like Gretzky thought he was shaking that kid’s hand 😂.” Referring to the vocalist’s career, a fan wrote, “When Jake isn’t yelling about touching the great ones hand, he’s yelling in August Burns Red.”

While everyone had a good laugh about it, many wanted to be in his shoes. His reaction might look like an exaggeration to some. But can we really blame the guy? After all, we’re talking about shaking hands with one of the greatest players in the history of the NHL.
