Wayne Gretzky relives his moment with his father Walter

Gretzky took to his Instagram to post clips from an old commercial featuring him and his father. The Great One captioned it with, “One of my favorites”. As the video proceeded further, it depicted the story of a boy from Brantford in 1968. The kid visited a coffee shop to get an autograph from the legendary hockey pro, Tim Horton, and finally managed to get that. In flashbacks, we see the Great One and images of his heroic career. The video slowly goes on to show how Greyzky grew up to be a tremendous force to be reckoned with.

Not only did the video tell the story of his good times, but it also described his adversities too. It highlighted Gretzky as a fan’s favorite and brought back the time when the Great One decided to retire from the sport. The #99 indeed remained in the heart of all Canadians forever.

Lastly, as Walter Gretzky handed over the envelope, the White Tornado exclaimed, “Precious“. Evidently, the boy personified Gretzky himself. He managed to get Horton’s signature, who writes, “Wayne best wishes, Tim Horton”. The whole commercial successfully touched the heart of the fans and is indeed very close to Gretzky.

Their father-son chemistry

Well, of course, if it was not for senior Gretzky, The Great One would have had a very different career trajectory. It was his father who first coached him in the basics of the game. Walter was very strict and disciplined his son with every valuable piece of advice, even some apart from hockey.

From participating in house league hockey at 5 years of age, to choosing to play for the L.A. Kings, Walter Gretzky contributed to making Wayne’s career stand. When Gretzky looks back to those days, he does that with pride and never leaves an opportunity to thank his father for his amazing contributions.

The Great One’s post is indeed a tribute to his father. What’s your take on the video?
