In fact, so much so, that Smith decided to walk up to the stage and smack Chris Rock. After that, he went back to his seat but yelled at Chris for the joke. The joke in question was one aimed at Jada Smith, Will’s wife.

American sprint star and Olympic legend Michael Johnson took to Twitter today to express his thoughts about Will Smith smacking Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars.

Ever since the incident, there have been many people who consider the entire altercation staged. On the other hand, with the ferocity of Smith’s slap and his ensuing threat to Rock to keep Jada’s name out of his mouth, many believe it was quite a genuine moment.

Johnson, the four-time Olympic gold medalist, cannot seem to believe it was real. “I?m not buying it,” he tweeted. Then, referring to both Will and Chris, Johnson stated, “those are two of the smartest guys around”.

Thus, Michael Johnson believes that it was all just entertainment, and he says as much. “They both know how to entertain better than everyone in that room combined!”

This was the first time Smith won an Oscar. However, there is no doubt that his slap on Chris Rock’s face definitely overshadowed his victory.
