As the US men bagged a bronze in the men’s team finals, the gymnastics world awaited the women. With the great Simone Biles leading the scoreboard, the all-over qualifying score stands at 171.395. However, the sixth day of the World Artistic Gymnastics Championship 2023 for the US women had some lows as well. As the youngest 17-year-old team member met an unfortunate fate, her Olympic dreams look far-fetched.
For someone who dreamt day and night about stepping foot on the Antwerp ground, seeing her gymnastics dream crash in a jiffy was hard. The World Championships debutant faced a wobbly vault routine during the warmup. As a result, she landed up in the medic, and later, with an unpleasant companion.

Joscelyn Roberson, who grew up watching Biles perform, got excited about her national selection. However, the 17-year-old Texarkana native couldn’t help but resent it. Her signature vault let her down this time. After she hit the Cheng, Roberson couldn’t stand back up and later limped her way to the medic. Later, the crutch promised to be her companion for the day.

Inside Gymnastics took to her ‘X’ handle to share the heart-wrenching update. Though it’s just been 11 months since Biles and Roberson started bonding, their camaraderie knew no bounds. Having shared the same mental hurdles as the 4X Olympic gold medalist, the budding star had a lighthearted conversation. So, this is not the first time the 17-year-old faced a roadblock.
