The popular notion was that Gretzky switched the club to shift to the USA for his wife. In an interview, Wayne Gretzky revealed that his father also made a big statement about his action. As per LA Times, Gretzky revealed, “She deserves a medal, he says, twisting his gold wedding band.”

Gretzky Jr. revealed that he had an idea that the media was going to target Janet but he wasn’t expecting the bizarre comment from his father. “My dad said it best when he said this was the only time he’d ever heard of a man doing an $18-million favour for his wife,” he added. 

Jones broke her silence on the issue

While Wayne remained silent on the issue, it was his partner who broke the silence on the issue. Janet once called a reporter and revealed that it was the Oilers’s owner who was the reason for the removal. Jones further clarified that she had nothing to do with the business angle of the sport. The GOAT of the NHL still remained silent on the sport.
