Margielyn Didal, a rising skateboard player once posted a picture with Tony Hawk that ignited the flames of controversy.

Margielyn’s picture created the controversy

Last year Margielyn shared a picture from her social media handle with Tony Hawk. However, she wanted to give it a humorous twist. She sarcastically wrote a caption “This guy asked me to take a photo with him And I let him because he looked like Tony Hawk.”

This post received people’s attention and reactions. While some people loved watching the two stars together, a part of the audience couldn’t understand the humor behind the message. People started taking a dig at Tony Hawk’s stardom. Tony himself had to come up with an explanation when the water flowed over his head.

He tweeted the same photo, explaining the reason for Margielyn’s caption. He recounted similar questions in an interview that went along these lines, “How does it feel to go to the Olympics and not be recognized by competing skaters, like Margielyn Didal?”.  Tony further added that the caption was supposed to have a hidden sarcastic meaning that people couldn’t understand.  “I had to explain that she was joking with her caption. My life is weird.” he wrote.

Tony Hawk has always appreciated funny fans interactions

He has long been recording his funny interactions with strangers. However, the legend has always taken it light-heartedly. His supporters now make fun of it frequently, but one person genuinely took it seriously. Tony has maintained a healthy and co-existing bond with both his fans and trolls.
