Skiing Icon Lindsey Vonn opened up on her struggles and how hate made her stronger than ever. She recalls how she felt when competitors irritated her, followed by the press. Hate, right from childhood, actually made her a stronger person.

Lindsey Vonn needs no introduction when it comes to skiing. The American skiing legend is the recipient of four World Cup overall championships. Out of these four, 3 were won consecutively in 2008, 2009, and 2010. The last one was won in 2012.

Lindsey Vonn opens up on her struggles during childhood!

Talking about her childhood, Vonn said, “I would finish a race and all the 14-year-olds at the bottom would be crying because a 10-year-old had beaten them.” She says she has been very competitive right from birth! Her incredible passion for her sport and for winning keeps her going!

Vonn has never been a quitter. Some time back, she had a crash during training and sprained a ligament. This forced her to miss some early races in that year’s season. However, what came as a surprise is that she competed in the World Cup just six weeks later after she tried to rehab her knees.

During her career, she has also received a lot of hate, as most athletes do. On this, Vonn says, It always motivates me to hear people trash-talk me because I just love to prove people wrong, I know what I’m capable of. I’m actually kind of thankful for the haters. Because it made me stronger and it pushed me harder. It made the comebacks that much sweeter.”

Vonn shares career ideas

Speaking about her carer, Vonn says her endorsement deals with luxury brands like Oakley, Red Bull, and Under Armour have helped her a lot. In addition to this, she says she can now look forward to new opportunities on television as well as spending time with her two nieces.
