The Paris Olympics 2024 is almost at arm’s length now. In July, the grand event rolls in, and the athletes have already started palpitating. But this time may be the last that the sporting icons unlock maximum ability straightforwardly. An instance from the Winter Olympics Beijing resurfaced recently, where fans rallied to support Clean-Sport Movement. But with the introduction of The Enhanced Games, the idea of clean sports has taken a controversial turn.

Joined by none other than PayPal co-founder, The Enhanced Games, also termed as a ‘drug-friendly’ sports contest, has made headlines. Something that was considered harmful to the athletes’ health and performance, will not be an obstruction between the athlete and record-breaking performances anymore. “The Olympics of the future” has sizeable goals to achieve, true. But to what extent it’ll garner public support is the real question.

Are the Olympics fans on the same page as Peter Thiel?
Gaining an advantage over others with the help of artificial substances has been a no-no since its inception. Not one, but several athletes who attempted this act have faced serious setbacks in their professional careers. But the “multi-million dollar” competition will not test the athletes for performance enhancers any further. Rather, Peter Thiel and the team are offering a platform to explore the utmost caliber. In response, an Olympics fanatic, David Martin, has unabashedly posted on X, “The spirit of the Olympics has been totally destroyed”.

The statement can’t be overlooked because fans are used to the real essence of the Olympics, which has no place for doping. Though The Enhanced Games has nothing to do with the conventional event, it has the potential to browbeat. People from all age groups can participate in the contest where science and technology meet sports. Under meticulous monitoring, the ‘Enhanced’ Olympics will kick off with a noble motive. But not all the fans are sailing together.
