Summer McIntosh shows higher aspiration

In the 400m IM, the presence of Regan Smith did not deter Summer McIntosh from clinching the top position in the final. Continuing her fiery run in the US Open Swimming Championship this year, the 17-year-old clocked 4:29.96 to grab the gold. The runner-up, Anastasia Gorbenko, never made it to be in the vicinity of the two-time world champion. Rather, she took 4:37.90 to set herself in a second position. Regan Smith’s challenge pushed her to the third position on the same list. However, as per the tweet of SwimSwam Live, the difference stood at almost 9 seconds between her and Summer.

Before this triumph, on Thursday, Summer McIntosh beat Katie Ledecky in the 400m free in the US Open Swimming Championship. Beating the reigning Olympic champion, she also broke the US Open Swimming Championship record in the event set by Katie previously. Meanwhile, the men’s 400m IM saw the US flag rising high.

In men’s 400m IM, he overcame the challenges of Carson Foster and Jay Litherland to stay on top of the list. Showing his consistency in the event, the 29-year-old swimmer made a handsome time difference of almost 3 seconds from the second-ranked Carson Foster.

In the 200m IM in the US Open Swimming Championship 2023, Chase made a slow start. That made him lose his position to his Arizona teammate, Hubert Kos. To get the top rank, he had to keep a thorough run in the second half of that event. However, in the 400m IM, Chase did not repeat such episodes. He had won the gold medal at 400m IM in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. After this stellar performance in the championship, Phelps’ Protégé’s fans would want a bigger return from him in recent times.
