“Your Age Is Not Your Cage”: Track and Field Enthusiasts Nearing Centurion Continue to Amaze the Sporting World at 2023 National Senior Games

Pittsburgh has another reason to call itself the “city of champions”. The National Senior Games have already begun, showcasing seniors’ incredible athleticism and determination nationwide. The National Senior Games continues to inspire and motivate seniors to push their limits. Especially the events in the 90-99 age bracket are truly remarkable, as these participants prove that “age is just a number”.
The National Senior Games include a wide range of sports, such as swimming, track and field, basketball, tennis and much more. This year the crowds saw a thrilling display of perseverance as seniors in the 90-99 age bracket competed in the track and field events.
Seniors Shine in the 50M Dash at the National Senior Games

The games are organized by Humana, an organization that provides healthcare and insurance services to thousands of people in the United States of America every year. This year, six women between the ages of 90-99 and five men between 95-99 years of age participated in the 50m dash event. It was a lovely sight to see these seniors wearing colorful athletic attire on the track. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as spectators cheered on these seniors.

This year, the senior games were even more special. It completed a decade in 2023. Over the years, it has grown in popularity and has also become a symbol of active aging. This year the games managed to attract over 11,500 seniors from all over the country. The participants look forward to the event all year and also feel excited by the opportunity to prove their strengths. The National Senior Games Association uploaded two videos of the women’s and men’s 50m dash on their Instagram account. The video was captioned, “These athletes aren’t slowing down!” The post has received ample love from fans and followers, with many leaving comments to show their admiration.
