Amidst all the back and forth that Lindsey Vonn’s comeback rumors have caused, her fans have been on tenterhooks. While all the hints suggest that she may have enough fuel in her to return to slopes after retirement and within a year of her knee replacement, fans await a definite answer. But they continue to be left in the dark, amid several mixed indications that have surfaced.

Taking to her Instagram, Lindsey Vonn has now added a video of her training on the slopes of Solden, Austria. This is the very place where the FIS Ski World Cup shall begin in a few days, which has led to the video stirring a buzz. “Early mornings in Sölden… nothing makes me happier 🌄⛷️❤️,” she captions the post, flaunting her ski practice at dawn.
A similar hint was dropped 3 days ago, when Lindsey Vonn added a carousel of images and videos from Solden with the caption, “Loading………. Been putting in the work here in Solden. Having the time of my life and seeing how tings go. Just Happy.” This left the fans keen to know more, creating a 50-50 possibility that the speedster might show up if things go well.

And the latest video from Solden shows that Lindsey Vonn has been putting in the grind. Not just on the front end, but in the gym, where she has been going hard with her training. With supportive knee braces on and one of her knees taped, the legend kept pushing and confessed that even though there’s no pain in her knees anymore, she feels like a ‘terminator’ with the metal in her knee.

However, amidst all these developments, it’s hard to make sense if Lindsey Vonn is ready to be back as yet or not. Especially as hours after her Solden ski video, Lindsey added a tweet on X that signaled otherwise. What did she say?

Lindsey Vonn hopes she could be there
On October 24, 2024, Lindsey Vonn added a tweet on X that read, “Can’t wait to watch @MikaelaShiffrin and the @usskiteam this weekend! Wish I could be there in person. Hoping to watch @MarcelHirscher as well 🤞🏻 let’s go! @fisalpine” While she gave her best to Shiffrin, who is locked in for the World Cup, her tweet lent weight to the possibility of Marcel Hirscher, the skier who retired 5 years ago, returning to the white paradise.

But amid all this, her words suggested that this may not be the big comeback year for her. This again opened the floodgates for speculation after all the positive indications that fans had picked up so far. Firstly, Lindsey Vonn was spotted brushing her skills in New Zealand earlier, after which a few of her cryptic posts added fuel to the fire. In fact, some of her veteran competitors agreed to have heard about the rumors and extended their wishes to her.
And possibly the most concrete set of indications so far came via the October 18 press release. It read, “Among [the competitors], Lucas Pinheiro Braathen, who wants to bring Brazilian samba to the race slope, all-time ski hero Marcel Hirscher, Frenchman Alexis Pinturault as well as Lindsey Vonn and Lara Gut-Behrami.” But the mismatched social media posts from the racer have continued to keep the possibility of her comeback up in the air as of now.
