During an appearance on March 23, on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Mikaela Shiffrin, the legendary alpine skier, personally revealed inspiring stories of her success. Shiffrin’s illustrious journey has achieved exceptional feats.

Her accomplishments encompass two treasured Olympic gold medals and five unparalleled World Cup championships. Additionally, an impressive collection of 14 medals was achieved at the World Championships. While sharing her unforgettable experiences on the show, “the weirdest” prize that captivated everyone’s attention was a reindeer.

Adding a touch of whimsy to Shiffrin’s list of victories are the six reindeer she won in slalom races in Levy, Finland. It is a tradition for the winners of these races to be awarded a reindeer. And Shiffrin has eagerly embraced this unusual honor. She has affectionately named her reindeer Rudolph, Sven, Mr. Gru, Ingemar, Sully, and Elsa, each possessing their own unique charm. In fact, she even named one of them Ingemar after Ingemar Stenmark, the Swedish skiing legend whose record she surpassed.

During her conversation with Jimmy Fallon, when asked about what she did with her reindeer prizes, Shiffrin humorously shared, “I bring them home, and they are like walking around in my house.” As laughter filled the audience, they imagined a charming picture of reindeer roaming around the athlete’s home. Yet she kindly explained that the reindeer are actually kept in Finland, where they receive proper care. Shiffrin’s fondness for the reindeer was apparent as she expressed her attachment to them: “I am kind of saving the reindeer one by one.”
