The US alpine skiing legend Lindsey Vonn continues to be an inspiration for young kids. One of the greats of the game, growing up, she took inspiration from the Olympic Skier Picabo Street. Now, after becoming one of the most decorated skiers with 82 World Cup victories and 3 Olympic golds, she is the one today’s young kids look up to.

Seeing the kids enjoy the mountains, Vonn remembered her own days. She was taught skiing by her grandfather during family vacations and later enrolled in Ski Club Vail for alpine skiing lessons. Before enrolling in the racing program, Vonn had already skied down Minnesota, Colorado, and Oregon tracks. Earlier during an interview, the Olympic Champion also revealed how her mother played a crucial role in her skiing career.

Vonn shares a skiing anecdote from her childhood

Vonn stands as one of the world’s most decorated alpine skiers. She was determined from her early childhood days to become one of the greatest, and greatest she became. “I knew that I wanted to be great “, were her words. But like her first teacher, grandfather, her mother also played a crucial role in her skiing career.

They would drive for 16 hours from their home to Vail where Vonn would take the alpine skiing lessons. Like she would take inspiration from Picabo Street, today’s generation dreams to be as good a skier as Vonn was.
