But just a while ago, Subban broke the news of his retirement on Instagram. In a statement, he thanked his family, friends, fans, and everyone who supported him throughout his NHL career. Besides that, he left a hint of upcoming new opportunities in his life.

“I never looked at myself or ever felt I was ‘just a hockey player,’” the Olympic champion wrote. “I always looked at myself as a person who happened to play hockey.”
