‘Series of Unfortunate Events’ Plague Lindsey Vonn as She Narrates Dangers of Alpine Skiing

Being one of the greats in any sport never comes easy. The amount of physical toil athletes extol isn’t always highlighted as much as the athletes’ achievements. And very few stars know what it’s like having to suffer physical ordeal like Alpine skiing legend Lindsey Vonn. With a series of horrific injuries, Vonn has had to come back from the brink of forced retirement multiple times. In a recent interview, Vonn shed more light on how her injuries cast a long shadow on her career and how she managed to come out of those with sound resilience.

In the interview, the four-time women’s skiing World Cup winner opened up about the perilous journey she faced in her alpine skiing career. Talking about her illustrious professional life, Vonn recently bared her heart out in a conversation with Dwayne Wade.

In a recent interview with former Miami Heat player Dwayne Wade, Vonn talked about how a Series of unfortunate events, forced her to undergo several surgeries. While talking to Wade about how recovery processes can be boosted, the former NBA player probed her about the numerous surgeries she underwent and the bone-chilling accidents that marked her path to greatness.

Vonn, known for her fearless speed on the slopes, shared the harrowing details of a catastrophic crash in 2013, a turning point that triggered a cascade of injuries and surgeries. Torn MCL, ACL, and a tibial plateau fracture were just some obstacles Vonn faced, leading to her coining the period as a ‘Series of Unfortunate Events.’

Vonn said such accidents can hit you out of nowhere and “...you crash into the fence and your legs are like a pretzel. Despite the physical toll, Vonn remains unyielding in her love for skiing, comparing it to driving a car where the thrill lies in controlling speed and navigating a precise path. With her signature wit, Vonn discussed her remarkable career and how she picked up speed even when facing adversity. Lucky for her, her retired life is proving to be more stress-free as several bucket list-worthy items are finally being ticked off with little fear of such damage to her body.

Adjusting to the retired life – a la Lindsey Vonn

Only recently, Lindsey Vonn got the chance to ski down the legendary Streif in Austria. While her professional time with the boots on never saw her conquering the difficult slope, Vonn has finally achieved this one unrequited challenge and she couldn’t stop gushing about it.
