Alpine skiing queen, Mikaela Shiffrin is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to chasing thrill on the slaloms. With a multitude of accolades framed on her wall of fame, Shiffrin is one of the most staunch athletes to ever grace the giant icy mountains. Now, the skier is not only regarded for her top-notch performances but also for her compliments and regard for her fellow athletes. Along similar lines, the skiing star took all the brownie points as she acknowledged tennis star Iga Swiatek as she joins forces with the alpine skier for a new project. 

On 20th August, Swiatek dropped a bombshell when she announced that she would be taking the week off ahead of the US Open. Her fans were not over the news when she again dropped a surprise for her fans where Swiatek and her role model will be collaborating. For this new collab, the tennis sensation received a heartwarming message from Shiffrin.

Iga Swiatek updated her fans on Instagram about joining the team of the Visa US, which is created for supporting individual women’s businesses. She said, “I’m a bit late with the news, I know! It’s because I was doing my job on the court. Excited to join Team Visa as a global ambassador! I’m so glad to be part of this incredible group of athletes.” She also expressed her elation as she girds up to join hands with Shiffrin for the new initiative. The tennis star tagged her idol and demonstrated her joy, saying, “And where else could I be on the same team as @mikaelashiffrin ?!”

Following this, the alpine skier shared this post on her Instagram story and penned, “Welcome to #TeamVisa iga.swiatek.Swiatek also expressed her excitement about working with the team and said, “I’m looking forward to our joint projects, making an impact together, and sharing our love of sports with people all over the world…”

On 8th May, the Laureus World Sports Awards was held in Paris with much glamour and some epic limelights. Along with the event’s other highlights, one of the chief subjects of the award show was the saga nomination. In the category of 2023 Laureus Sports Woman of the Year, five stellar Olympian women were nominated. The list included Katie Ledecky (swimming), Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (track and field), Shelly-Ann Fraser (Track and field), Mikaela Shiffrin (Alpine skiing), and Tennis star Iga Swiatek. 

Apart from this, Shiffrin and Swiatek are quite popular for exchanging a series of compliments with each other and they even describe themselves as ‘Instagram Friends’. Expressing her encomium for the skier, Swiatek once stated, “She’s a really good role model. I really respect her.”
