Mikaela Shiffrin is the undisputed GOAT of alpine skiing. As the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup 2023 closes to its final stages, Shiffrin is adamant about edging closer to her 100th World Cup victories. The 28-year-old recently won her 9oth World Cup race in Kellington and is aiming for 91st in the ongoing Giant Slalom in Tremblant.

Again challenged by Petra Vlhova, the 7x Skiing World champion finished in the 3rd position during Saturday’s run. Looking to bounce back to the top, Shiffrin produced a remarkable run down the hill amid fierce competition from allied rivals, in the most spectacular fashion possible.

Mikaela Shiffrin narrowly misses first place

The rivalry between Mikaela Shiffrin and Slovakian skier Petra Vlhova keeps getting more interesting with each passing day. The two renowned have been competing against each other since last year. While Shiffrin has had the upper hand in this rivalry till now, Vlhova doesn’t lose easily.

In the latest update, Mikaela Shiffrin produced a stellar run down the hill in the first round. Although the Slovakian Petra Vlhova leads the standings currently with a timing of 1:06:46, Shiffrin is just behind at the 2nd place with a timing of 1:06:51. Shiffrin still leads the race in the overall category and will look to overthrow the Slovakian in the next round after getting interrupted by an unexpected bedmate yesterday.

An unexpected individual broke Mikaela Shiffrin off

Mikaela Shiffrin has covered enough ground in the snowy realm of alpine skiing. She has the highest number of World Cup victories, Olympic gold medals, and whatnot. And yet she continues to fulfill her dream of 100 World Cup wins after winning her 55th Slalom race at Kellington. While the 2x Olympic gold medal didn’t have the best of her races yesterday, she was later interrupted by Paula Motzan as she looked to get some rest.

Shiffrin was placed 3rd after Saturday’s Giant Slalom race on the Tremblant slopes. Looking to get some rest, her plans were soon interrupted as Moltzan laid back on Shiffrin in an endearing bear hug. “Interrupting horizontal time, “, Moltzan commented after Shiffrin uploaded the picture on Instagram. Earlier, she finished 2nd behind the alpine skiing legend at the World Cup slalom. Shiffrin’s reign of greatness, however, ambles on, just like her graceful sinews on the snowy cascades of the hills.
