Caitlin Clark has emerged as a teenage dynamite and Lindsey Vonn loves it. The no.22 point guard of the Indiana Fever is currently making ripples in the WNBA circuit. Right from her time with the NCAA, Clark has stood out of the bunch. Representing the United States, Caitlin Clark opened her medals tally back in 2017. Competing at the FIBA Americas U-16 Championship, Clark clinched gold. She further went on to clinch the U-19 World Cup gold twice in 2019 and 2021 at Thailand and Hungary respectively.

Well, such a rise to fame has not only helped Caitlin Clark’s career but has also done wonders for women’s sports. Her shenanigans have attracted sponsors and broadcasters to invest in women’s sports. Fans have also begun to take interest and are coming to catch their favorite athlete live in action at the stadium. And because of all these developments, none other than Lindsey Vonn has extended her positive takes on women’s sports.

The NCAA phenom, Caitlin Clark made her debut a couple of days back in the WNBA. She stepped on the court to prove her worth in the professional circuit against the Dallas Wings. Even though it was a preseason exhibition match-up, Clark continued her fine form to clinch 21 points, two assists, and three rebounds. She also ended the game with a couple of steals for the Indiana Fever. Unfortunately, even though the overall first WNBA draft pick for 2024 excelled, the Indiana Fever succumbed to a 79-76 defeat, much to Clark’s agony.

However, Clark’s popularity is not only dependent on her impeccable on-court skills. Clark also has a NIL valuation that stands at a whopping $3.1 million. Some of her popular NIL ventures include giants like Gatorade, Nike, Bose, Goldman Sachs, etc. And this is exactly the point the Alpine skiing legend Lindsey Vonn highlighted.

Speaking in a video uploaded on her Instagram, Vonn stated, “The excitement about women’s sports has hit this tipping point almost. It’s been happening for a long time, so I hope we can keep this momentum going.” She then cited the examples of Billie Jean-King, Alex Morgan, and more, who have shaped the women’s sporting realm significantly. However, this is not the only instance when Lindsey Vonn advocated for women’s sports.

Vonn is a firm believer in women’s sporting excellence

Being the undisputed queen of women’s skiing, Lindsey Vonn knows how it feels to be at the top. Thus, to inculcate identical feelings in all the female athletes, Vonn has been quite vocal about the discipline. Back in November 2023, Vonn cited the example of the WNBA finals. It garnered the highest traction in 20 years, something to be ecstatic about if one is a lover of women’s sports.

Asking the investors to come in, Vonn advocated, But if you do invest, it is paying off. I’ve talked to several owners and they’re very optimistic about actually generating income, and the viewership ratings are going up, and there is a lot of momentum.” Lindsey Vonn does not just talk, but she works towards proving her points as well.

In a recent announcement, Vonn proudly unveiled her investment in the Utah Royals FC, an expansion side in the National Women’s Soccer League 2024. Expressing immense support, Vonn stated, “women in sports is a movement, not a moment.” Thus, with the women’s sporting realm looking fairly bright, it is up to the fans to continue supporting and taking the discipline to reach greater heights.
