USA’s Men Volleyball Team shattering 14 years old curse

The Beach World Championship in Tlaxcala, Mexico, features 40 teams from multiple countries across the globe spit into 12 pools. In addition, this 14th edition of the world championship is proving lucky for Team USA. Amongst this, two American teams are aiming to clinch the world championship title to end the 14-year-old curse. In a recent post shared by USAV Beach on their X handle, it was captioned “Quarterfinal bound! Both U.S. men’s beach teams won their Round of 16 matches today at the Beach World Championship in Mexico. Trevor Crabb/Theo Brunner def. 2-0, Miles Partain/Andy Benesh def. 2-0.”

Although the last silver medal by Team USA was in 2009, this year, the team is all set to accomplish a gold. However, the USA’s beach volleyball team qualified for the quarterfinals as they won the round of 16 matches. In addition, USA’s Crabb Tr. Brunner won the match and achieved a remarkable score of 0-2. Thus making it a fierce battle with a constant lead of 17-21 in both sets.

On the other hand, the USA’s other exceptionally talented team, Partain Benesh, led the match against the opponent Ranghieri Camrambula. Just like Brunner, Benesh also secured the constant lead, winning the match with 0-2. The scores in the two sets were 21-17 and 21-14 respectively. Thus, team USA not only made it to the quarterfinals but also offered hope in the hearts of fans to end 14 year old curse. However, what is it in for team USA now and what do they look forward to?

What is Team USA Aiming for?

As the event is a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympics. In addition to the prize money of $1 million, competing teams are leaving no stone unturned to make it to the finals. However,  USA’s beach volleyball team is emerging victorious and making it highly competitive for the teams to stand atop the podium.

Previously, the USA’s team made it to the semifinal match in 2009. Although they gave a head-to-head competition, they lost the final match, making it to the second spot in the tournament. However, team USA is aiming for a gold this time. Meanwhile, their next match is scheduled for 14th October: Benesh vs. Losiak Bryl and Brunner vs. Pedro Solberg Guto.
